FAMILIES Project

Fostering Acceptance, Mutual Inclusion, Love, and Identity for Every Spectrum

The FAMILIES Project aims to create a safe and understanding space where parents can explore and embrace their children’s unique identities with acceptance and love.

Through a combination of workshops, support groups, and one-on-one sessions, FAMILIES equips parents with the knowledge and resources necessary to foster a nurturing environment for their LGBTQ+ children.

Parents enroll in an 8-week program. This course aims to provide parents with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to support their LGBTQ+ child in a positive and affirming way. Through a combination of educational materials, interactive discussions, guest speakers, and practical exercises, parents will gain a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, learn effective communication strategies, explore ways to create a supportive environment at home and connect with a community of other parents on similar journeys.

Parti-parents will have access to additional resources such as recommended readings, online forums, and guest speakers from LGBTQ+ organizations and advocacy groups. Parti-parents will also have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and receive guidance from course facilitators who are experienced in LGBTQ+ advocacy and support. At the end of this course, we celebrate our graduating parents with a Lavender Graduation and Certificate of Completion.
