Trans Awareness Week 2026

Trans Awareness Week is a week of advocacy and education observed annually in the week leading up to Trans Day of Remembrance on November 20, which memorializes trans people who have lost their lives to violence. We are once again commemorating Trans Awareness Week and Trans Day of Remembrance with a series of workshops, panels, and celebrations for trans people by trans people.

Mascara XVIII: A TDOR Ofrenda and “Who I Am Meant To Be” Screening

6-9pm
Garden State Equality Headquarters
308 Main St, Asbury Park, NJ

Join us for our MASCARA XVII celebration with a powerful panel discussion from collective of TGD leaders, advocates, and experts who will share practical strategies for resilience and community healing. We are hosting our inaugural Transgender Ofrenda gathering to kick off Trans Awareness Week, honoring and remembering transgender and gender diverse people who have passed on. Together, we will create a communal ofrenda celebrating their lives, stories, identities, and the love they brought into our communities. Participants are invited to bring photos, written memories, small offerings, or meaningful items to honor someone they have lost. This gathering is a space for remembrance, reflection, healing, and connection, while celebrating the resilience, joy, and continued presence of our trans and gender diverse ancestors.
