
Creating Safe and Affirming Communities for Transgender Youth

The “Creating Safe and Affirming Communities for Transgender Youth” workshop is geared towards teaching participants about the challenges faced by transgender youth in school and community settings and how to advocate for change.
Participants will be provided with a comprehensive explanation of state law and school policies as they apply to transgender
and gender nonconforming youth in order to better understand transgender rights. The final step of the workshop will provide tools for participant on how to engage their friends, extended family, and community in order to create safe spaces for trans youth. Participants will leave this workshop feeling confident in advocating for their child’s rights in school and in the broader community.
