1,000 Friends of Equality is a month-long grassroots fundraising event to support Garden State Equality's programs and initiatives. We need 100 supporters—like you—across the state host house parties with 10 of your friends... amplifying our reach to 1,000 new friends of Garden State Equality!
Your house party can be as simple or elaborate as you would like. You can host a pizza party or a cocktail party. You can invite friends over for tea or a movie night, or you can host a brunch or a giant dinner feast! It's completely up to you!
We'll give you a resource kit with materials and information about Garden State Equality's work that you can share with your friends, along with digital tools and graphics to help you promote your house party.
We recommend asking each friend to donate a minimum of $10 at your party, but you can suggest whatever donation amount is appropriate for your friends.
All funds raised from 1,000 Friends of Equality will support our programs and initiatives and be tax-deductible.
John's Story: The Origin of 1,000 Friends of Equality
John Juska is an incredible community partner, volunteer, and supporter of Garden State Equality. John—a survivor of the AIDS Crisis—spent many years advocating, organizing, and fundraising to support the community. Years ago, he organized a special weeklong event called A Week of 1,000 Friends to raise funds for AIDS victims, which served as John's inspiration for creating 1,000 Friends of Equality!
Will You Host a House Party?
After signing up, we'll reach out to you and give you everything you need to get started!
